HISTORY

Wesley Frater and Maurise Gray founded South Florida Tournament of Champions, Inc a 501c3 Nonprofit organization that has a legacy of conceptualizing and executing sporting events in Florida and the Caribbean. Founded in 1992, TOC has partnered with Nike Corporation in 1997 to produce a myriad of sporting events inclusive of the premier football and basketball events for high school student-athletes. South Florida Tournament of Champions, INC. is proud to be the creators of the original Dade vs. Broward All-star Football Game.

Currently, his organization produces numerous events annually serving to enhance the frequency of marketing messages from our sponsors, while many of the events have been televised thereby creating a marketing reach beyond mere event attendees to audiences across the Southeastern United States. Annual events produced annually by TOC include: Tournament of Champions, INC Student-Athletes Academic & Human Development Symposium, Tournament of Champions, INC Miami Dade County North vs South All-Star Football Game, Tournament of Champions, INC All-Star Christmas Soiree, and Community Awards, Tournament of Champions, INC/Larry Blustein Football Combine, Tournament of Champions, INC Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Basketball Classic, Tournament of Champions, INC Soul to Sole Bahamas Tour, Tournament of Champions, INC South Florida All-Star Basketball Game, Tournament of Champions, INC Palm Beach County All-Star Basketball Game, Tournament of Champions, INC Summer Basketball League, Tournament of Champions, INC 7-on-7 Summer Football Challenge, Tournament of Champions, INC Soul to Sole Jamaica Tour, Tournament of Champions, INC Naples Summer Retreat, Tournament of Champions, INC Preseason Football Classic, Tournament of Champions, INC Soul to Sole Turks Caicos, Tournament of Champions, INC. While the preceding events reflect TOC marquee events, it does not account for the numerous youth camps that the organization conducts continuously throughout the calendar year, such as our annual donations in Jamaica. TOC also subcontracts with other organizations to execute sporting-related components within their events, which has been his task for recent Super Bowls held in South Florida and its Youth Football Showcase.

Through Tournament of Champions, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit, he has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of children, every high school in South Florida has been affected by his work, through sporting camps/clinics, academic symposiums, and donations to the high school of over 1 Million dollars since 1992. His interviews, opinions, and success have been captured by national and international media and were chosen in 2006 as NBC TV Person of the Week. The reinforcement and the importance of education as the basis for success, His organization’s focus on integrating academics with athletic contests has manifested as; more informed/prepared athletes, commendations from local & national dignitaries, and ultimately, a TOC brand that espouses and represents the pursuit of excellence in all endeavors. He believes that his events will provide an opportunity for sponsors to partner with an organization that has a positive brand image, while also accessing an established adult fan base representative of diverse demographic groups consisting of sports enthusiasts, collegiate athletic recruiters, parents, and family members.
